Bethesda offers a suburban lifestyle surrounding urban Downtown Bethesda. Its bustling downtown area offers lots of entertainment and employment opportunities, especially since Bethesda is connected to the D.C. Metro.

Businesses at Bethesda Row include the sophisticated French bistro Mon Ami Gabi, which serves traditional Parisian cuisine on an outdoor patio and in an elegant interior with live music. Bethesda Bagels has several Bethesda locations, including one at Bethesda Row. This popular local chain sells tasty bagel sandwiches with a diverse selection of gourmet fillings. La Ferme is a refined French country restaurant located in a historic farmhouse in Chevy Chase. It has won Bethesda Magazine’s biannual Most Romantic Restaurant award each time it has been awarded since 2010. La Ferme serves exceptional cuisine in a charming environment featuring a roaring fireplace and live piano music.
Old Angler’s Inn in Potomac has been a landmark dining destination in the community since 1860. Surrounded by a beautiful tiered garden located just off the C&O Canal, the restaurant may be over 150 years old but their menu is very contemporary, featuring delicious meat and seafood dishes with European influences.
The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda is a premier performing arts facility showcasing a diverse lineup of music and dance performances. Potomac’s Glenstone Museum is a leading contemporary art museum with around 1,300 works from the latter half of the 20th century onward. The museum is comprised of several galleries spread across a 230-acre wooded campus. Visitor numbers are limited to 450 per day, allowing everyone lots of space and time to fully appreciate Glenstone’s artworks.
Round House Theater in Bethesda is one of the best theaters in the D.C. area. Each season, Round House produces a varied lineup of classic and contemporary plays and musicals. Bethesda’s Imagination Stage is another premier theater with shows, after-school programs, and summer camps aimed at children, teenagers, and young adults. Glen Echo Park is a hub of arts and culture offering hundreds of performances, classes, and workshops in a distinctive 1890s Art Deco building.
